Rivoche On Riverdale

What’s your guilty pleasure, comic-wise?

Archie Comics. I first bought them for my daughter, then discovered that although the basic structure and storylines are by their nature constrained and formulaic, surprisingly, there’s a consistent and pleasurable level of cartooning craft in much of the artwork, something missing in the visual emanations many of the more erratic new-youngpup-flavours-of-the-month being constantly discovered and touted as geniuses.

The National Post interviews artist Paul Rivoche. Hype for the Toronto Comic Arts Festival sure is making Archie Thursdays a breeze.
