Kim Jong Il’in it up

My love of North Korea and it’s wicked art has found it’s way into my heart once again. What is it with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea that I dig? I’m not completely sure.

I really have nothing but love for the good ol’ USA and I do feel a little guilty about digging such hate-filled masterpieces.

Maybe part of my love for propaganda art in general is the proof that good art has oodles of power. Smash!

Don’t even get me started on the women!
I’m heading to South East Asia in January and am very excited about being only a train away from visiting this mysterious land. It’s a little expensive, but I may have to visit the wacky ol’ DPRK. It’d certainly worth every penny. Hollah, Dear Leader!

Do you know how this propaganda gets out of the country in the first place? Is it smuggled out, or are they official government releases?

From what I’ve read, they allow you to buy certain pieces of propaganda art from tourist shops. They’ve recently put tighter restrictions on the more anti-USA art though. I think lots of the art is from people taking pictures of it while doing a guided tour. There are some art galleries though who seem to specialize in this kind of thing.
